WHO WE ARE
CARD is one of the nation’s leading national health and relief organizations, committed to improve access to health and livelihood for the most vulnerable members of our communities. Founded in 2011 to provide much needed health services and relief to survivors of the civil war, CARD quickly became a tested and trusted vehicle for the compassion and generosity thousands.
our PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES
The violence and displacement has worsened an already fragile food security and livelihoods situation. The current crisis has increased insecurity along commercial supply corridors, caused private sector actors to leave the country, increased market fragmentation, inflated food and fuel prices, increased risks of cattle raiding
We believe that our HIV/AIDS programs must provide information and services to vulnerable groups whilst addressing the underlying factors that lead people to make choices that put them at risk of infection. CARD’s HIV/AIDS programs will link with our other sectors, including health, education
The lack of safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene practices have left a large proportion of South Sudan’s population at persistent risk of preventable waterborne diseases. The recent violence and large-scale displacement of people to areas without sufficient access to clean water
Malnutrition has spiked as a result of lack of access to safe water and sanitation, increasing disease rates, rising food insecurity and conflict. More than 1 million people across South Sudan are now acutely malnourished.
Today we work alongside communities, government and partner organizations at many levels to address all aspects of basic education. Our inclusive approaches include provision of learning materials, training teachers and other school personnel such as PTAs to improve the quality of education; linking education programs to interventions in health, nutrition and livelihoods to better address reasons why children are out of school;
CARD works with farmers to increase their crop and livestock yields through activities such as planting new seed varieties, improved animal husbandry techniques, etc., home gardening and irrigation.
